Our Weatherization Guide
What is “weatherization” anyway?
Whole-house weatherization is adding insulation to the walls, attic, and basement of your home and sealing up all the air leaks where heat escapes. It can also mean installing a more efficient heating/cooling system when the time comes to replace your old one.
Why should I invest in insulation and energy efficiency?
Because it saves you MONEY! Your house will be warmer in winter. And it’s the best step we each can take to reduce pollution and carbon emissions in our town.
How much can I save?
Most people save 15%-20% or more of their heating and cooling costs, hundreds of dollars every year. That dollar amount will go UP, as oil and gas prices go up. We’ve been gathering stories of local people who have cut their heating bills as much as 40% or even 50%!
How much time and money will this take?
We’re not going to lie. Weatherization is a project, but you can start small and make a plan you can do over months or years that works for you. And you can get some or all of it paid for—up to 100% of the cost if you meet income guidelines.

DID YOU KNOW?
Middleborough is one of four towns in the state with a municipal utility that provides both our gas and electricity. That means Middleborough residents are not eligible for MassSave rebates or 0% HEAT loans. We have our own rebate system with Middleborough Gas & Electric at mged.com.
